Terms of Service

In case of any discrepancy, the Japanese version prevails.
1. Scope
These terms apply to the use of Memen (the “Service”). The Service is a free service run by an individual and available only to invited people; it is not a commercial service. Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Accounts
- You can sign in only with a Google account that has been approved in advance.
- Do not share your account with anyone else.
- The operator may suspend an account, or end the Service, whenever the operator considers it necessary.
3. Recording
The Service’s conversation recording also picks up the voices of other people who are present. Obtaining the consent of everyone present before recording, and complying with the laws on recording, is your responsibility. The Service never decides on your behalf whether recording is permitted. Pause recording whenever consent cannot be obtained.
4. Screen time limits
The Service’s screen time limits are designed so that they cannot be loosened afterwards. Please understand the following before using them.
- Releasing a limit requires a waiting period after you request it. The waiting period can be extended while the limit is active, but never shortened.
- On Android, the Service uses Device Owner privileges. Once set, the limits stay in force even if you delete the app. Depending on the situation, releasing them may require a factory reset of the device. Read the instructions provided at distribution before you set this up.
- macOS has no equivalent mechanism, so anyone with administrator privileges can ultimately remove the limits. They are designed as friction that stops impulsive actions, not as limits that can never be removed.
- Routes that bypass blocking, such as VPNs and encrypted DNS, remain available. We do not guarantee that blocking is complete.
- Depending on how a limit is set, communication or apps you need may also become unusable. The operator is not liable for any inconvenience this causes.
5. Accuracy of records and summaries
- Records are not complete. Depending on device state and permissions, some periods are not recorded.
- Transcripts contain errors. In silent stretches, sentences that were never actually spoken may be generated.
- Summaries and classifications are produced by generative AI and contain errors. Do not rely on them for important decisions.
6. Data preservation
The Service runs on free-tier infrastructure. It may stop without notice, and records may be lost. Backups are taken, but restoration is not guaranteed. Keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose outside the Service.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Attempting to access other users’ data
- Interfering with the operation of the Service or placing excessive load on it
- Recording or logging in violation of law
- Sharing or publishing other people’s records, or transcripts containing their voices, without their consent
8. Fees
The Service is free to use. The operator bears the running costs (servers and generative AI usage). If this changes in the future, we will give advance notice.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is” and makes no guarantee of fitness for a particular purpose, completeness or accuracy of records, or continued availability. Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence, the operator is not liable for damages arising from use of the Service.
10. Leaving the Service
To leave the Service, contact us at the address below. We will delete the records tied to you. The scope of deletion and how long data remains in backups are as set out in Section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we will update this page and rewrite the last-updated date.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
